Chinese women and Buddhist monks

Wow! So can I start off by saying that Chinese women are SUPER intimidating?! It seems as though the women here are very aggressive, fearless and independent, while the men here are more mellow and such. Yin and yang I suppose? I've also seen that more men cook over here and there are more women who are head of the household. Pretty interesting! On top of being intimidating, the people of Xi'an also naturally talk REALLY loud and sound as if they're yelling all the time. Something else I find very amusing is how whenever me and Yan Xin take a cab somewhere, the taxidriver will start talking really loud and honking his horn and Yan Xin will start translating for me, saying that the taxi driver is wondering why the other drivers are driving so horrible. The yelling is kinda scary and they usually seem pretty mad, but once they finish talking there's usually a giggle or smile that follows. I sure love the people here hahah!

So today was a very interesting day! Me and Yan Xin went to the Big Goose Pagoda today for lunch and were surprised when a group of Buddhist monks were praying and chanting under a large golden Buddhist diety. The chanting and smell of incense was mesmerizing! One of the Buddhist monks blessed me and my entire family with peace and harmony, writing the blessing down with my Chinese name "Xiao Xi", which means "Little River." Like a little brook, get it? Haha.

Also...there are a bunch of really small restaurants near the volunteer house and this one place has some really good egg fried rice for only $1 USD! I can't get over how cheap everything is over here. Song of the day: "It's a great day to be alive" by Travis Tritt!
